Ushers are those ministers who welcome and assist those who come to church. They help with seating, the collection, and giving out bulletins to those leaving church. The primary or head usher for the various Masses also coordinates the ushers taking up the collection, and the people bringing up the gifts of bread and wine to the altar. They also help those in need of emergency assistance, and in general, attend to the matters of security and the safety of those gathered. There is no formal training involved, but you may be asked to attend an organizational meeting or gathering of ministers.
